UKTI and the National Metals Technology Centre invite companies to hear about the market potential for rail exports and the support services available to help companies enter or grow their exports into this growing sector. In addition, we are delighted to welcome two leading regional organisations who will speak of their experiences in rail export across a range of markets and give direct feedback upon the benefits they have attained for their business from UKTI.
There will also be an opportunity to speak directly with UKTI sector specialists and to network with potential suppliers, customers and collaborators.
Investment in rail is booming around the world with predictions that that growth will accelerate to 22% over the next five years reaching €160 billion by 2015. In the Middle East alone there are plans to spend $100 billion on rail projects over the next decade while the Asian market is dominated by China which has committed to roughly doubling its current, world-leading, high-speed rail track length from its current 5,193 miles to 9,942 miles and represents a market of €36.5 billion in this year. As a result, Asia is now the world's second largest rail market, but Western Europe remains the leader.
