Glo Design, a Barnsley based Marketing and Branding company, is looking forward to a successful future after securing a Business Link Innovation Voucher worth £3000 to help secure her place as a lead marketing and branding agency for Science, Technology and
Advanced Engineering companies.
Sarah Brabbin, set up Glo Design 7 years ago as an industrial designer. Over the years she responded to the market and expanded the company’s repertoire and is now mainly a branding and marketing agency offering web design and print services.
She recognised that time was ripe for a review of the business in order that she could maximise potential for development and
growth. Sales have steadily grown over the past few years and Sarah was keen to look at how she could continue to increase sales, improve the levels of profitability and develop new services within a robust and dependable structure.
To address this need, Sarah sought out innovation support with CIDA, The Creativity and Innovation Company under the Enterprising Barnsley Programme.
Enterprising Barnsley, the Business Support Programme run by Barnsley Development Agency, commissioned CIDA to be an Enterprise Coach specialising in Innovation. Glo and CIDA used the Innovation process to explore issues that the company faced. This resulted in a total shift in Glo’s working priorities. Sarah acknowledged that in order to secure more contracts, she needed to communicate the value of her service and personality. This would enable Glo to differentiate
itself from similar businesses. Following this, time was spent developing the company values, sales pitches and marketing strategy. The financial targets were also re examined and CIDA helped Sarah devise a robust structure in which she could secure higher value contracts whilst stabilising her workload
to remain at a manageable level.
Following the work achieved as a result of the Innovation Process, Sarah recognised a niche in the
market. This was to provide branding packages to the Science, Technology and Advanced Engineering
fields, of which she has prior knowledge.
‘I feel a lot clearer about how to take my business forward using the techniques illustrated by the team. It was a great opportunity for me to get out of my work environment and get me back to what my business is all about. I now have a plan to take me and my business into a successful future.’ – Sarah Brabbin,
