The Mayor of Barnsley, Councillor James Michael Stowe, was shown around the new head office of SCC Air Compressors UK in Oxspring earlier today following support from Enterprising Barnsley to help the company expand into new premises.

SCC is a German industrial compressed air machinery manufacturer which was founded in Stuttgart in 2016 before beginning UK operations in 2018. At the time, they had just one member of staff who worked from home while stock was held in a small storage unit in Hillsborough.

The business has found success and continued to grow; it now has three local employees with the hope of adding to its workforce soon.

Working from a dedicated premises at Marrtree Business Park in Oxspring since 2020, the company signed a lease for their new home at the same business park in October 2023, which has since been transformed into a new head office for the UK branch of the business with the help of Enterprising Barnsley.

Councillor Robin Franklin, Cabinet spokesperson for Regeneration and Culture, said: "It's fantastic news that SCC Air Compressors have decided to have the head office for their UK operations in Barnsley.

"They add to the already diverse portfolio of businesses based in the borough and demonstrate that Barnsley is a place where any business can thrive.

"We're proud that our award-winning Enterprising Barnsley team have played a part in developing this project for SCC and wish them all the very best for the future."
