Government-funded cash grants are available to businesses in the hard-hit retail, hospitality and leisure sector to help cover immediate costs caused by Covid-19 closures.
Barnsley Council’s finance team is working hard to process cash grant applications worth £25,000 (for businesses with a rateable value of £15,000 to £51,0000) and £10,000 (for businesses with a rateable value below £15,000).
If you would like to be considered for one of these grants please fill in our ‘Online contact form.’ (This is our standard refunds form but please be assured this is the right form for this grant.)
Use this form to confirm your bank details and contact details. Please select ‘Business Rates’ in the refund option and put ‘10000’ or ‘25000’ in the refund amount box, as appropriate. If you don’t know your business rates account number, you should insert ‘TBC’ in the relevant field and ‘1’ as the last payment. There is a free text box on the last page where you can add notes if you need to.
Our finance team will review all forms received and arrange for grant payments to be made directly into verified business accounts as quickly as possible. It should take just a few days, once you receive your confirmation email.
We are aware some businesses are not sure if they are classed as a ‘retail’. By definition, a retail business property is used for the ‘sale of goods and services to visiting members of the public/customers’. Banks, financial services, solicitors, doctors and dentists are not classes as retail, for example. Please check your last annual rates bill, posted early March, and it will state on there whether your business property is classified as ‘retail’.
