DMC welcomes SOKA Studio

Barnsley’s Digital Media Centre (DMC) welcomes a new successful graphic design and website development agency SOKA Studio.

The company has made the move up the M1 expanding its services after great success in Lincoln, with the support of the Enterprising Barnsley team and located itself in the town’s heart of digital business at the DMC, a successful hub that will expand into a second building in summer 2020.

SOKA Studio, which was established in 2015, has quickly developed a diverse client and design portfolio across the UK which has seen them crowned winners of the Micro Business of the Year category at the Lincolnshire Technology & Innovation Awards 2019, which recognised SOKA as a highly ambitious company, capable of fast growth.

Founder of SOKA, Sophie Karaer, said: “The decision to return to Barnsley, where my family are from, was a simple one. The opportunity to be part of the wider community, as well as the business community in the expanding Digital Campus is important and will help us grow. We aim to equally contribute into those communities too; I’ve already signed up to do some volunteer work designing posters for the Barnsley Main coal mining heritage site.”

“The Enterprising Barnsley team have already put me in touch with Barnsley College as we have had real value in working with the education sector in Lincoln, and it’s something we want to continue to do here, providing work experience and guidance to students interested in the field.

“At SOKA, we work with our clients to uncover the core essence of their business and present their brand values through stylish, minimal and timeless design aesthetics. I can’t wait to get settled in and get started.”

Cllr Tim Cheetham, Cabinet Spokesperson for Regeneration and Culture, said: “It’s great to see another digital business making the move to Barnsley. I’m sure that the community of the Digital Media Centre will make them more than welcome and they will contribute to the great work already happening there.

“The Enterprising Barnsley team work hard to make Barnsley an attractive location to grow a business and it’s fantastic to see that work pay off as we aim to build and develop our digital and tech sector for the town.”
