Gigabit Leap for Endeavour

Gigabit Leap for Endeavour

Barnsley based plumbing and heating specialist Endeavour Heating get up to speed with their internet speeds with thanks to the Gigabit Broadband Voucher Scheme.

The Gigabit Broadband Voucher Scheme is a government grant scheme that offers financial support to businesses that want to improve their internet connectivity.

Family-run plumbing and heating specialist, Endeavour Heating, based in Royston, were struggling to upload and process jobs for clients on cloud based storage systems due to their ‘horrendous’ upload speed. Now, after using the available voucher they’ve reduced upload times from days to a handful of minutes.

Director of Endeavour Heating, David Taylor, explained: “Multiple jobs needed to be uploaded within forty-eight hours and sometimes it would take a day to process just one job.”

“Computers were left to run overnight, and sometimes they cancelled halfway through which meant starting all over again.”

Growing frustrated with the slow upload speed, Endeavour spoke to their service provider, Optionbox, about their options when it comes to connectivity, and a private leased line was identified as a solution. They also advised Endeavour on the available Gigabit Broadband Voucher. This negated the up-front installation costs.

Endeavour now enjoy a private leased line with speeds of 100Mbps, and the technology is gigabit-capable (1,000 Mbps), so the speed can be increased throughout the agreement, and the connection is future-proof. Document uploads what used to take days, now only takes minutes, taking away the stress and constant waiting.

The boost in connectivity has also opened up new opportunities for Endeavour. The company now has increased capacity and can take on more jobs on, allowing the business to drive forward and grow.

Director at Optionbox, Michael Fontana, said: “When we became approved as a supplier on the Gigabit Voucher Scheme we conducted an analysis of our customer base and other businesses predominantly in areas where we knew broadband speeds were poor. We then reached out to these customers to let them know about the scheme and the fact that it could pay for a large proportion if not all of the installation costs of installing a Gigabit ready fibre circuit.”

“In this case, the process was very simple after the customer placed an initial order with us, as we handled the grant application from there through a web based portal ensuring the customer was informed throughout. The speeds Endeavour receives are both guaranteed and synchronised.”

“We have completed many vouchers and can advise and guide customers through the simple process.”

The Government’s Gigabit Broadband Voucher Scheme gives grants to businesses and home owners toward the costs of connecting to gigabit-capable broadband.

The scheme provides vouchers for £2,500 for small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs), and £500 for residents to help with the costs of providing Fibre to the Premises (FTTP) to your address. This means that you’ll be able to order gigabit capable connections from a broad range of suppliers.
