Businesses must display the new QR scanner posters for the NHS Test and Trace system
Businesses need to download NHS QR code posters to work with the new NHS COVID-19 app when it launches on Thursday 24 September 2020.
The posters are easy to download and can be found online on the government website.
You must download a unique poster and QR code for your venue.
See our FAQ’s here.
The app will be launching on Thursday 24 September. Following the launch, customers and visitors in England will be able to check-in on entry with their phone instead of filling out a check-in book or tool specific to a business. This will allow NHS Test and Trace to contact customers with public health advice should there be a COVID-19 outbreak.

What to do when you receive your QR code
When displaying the NHS QR code posters, businesses are encouraged to consider the locations that posters are displayed, making sure they are visible at every entrance to their venue and are printed at size A4 minimum. Further advice around displaying NHS QR posters is available at the government website.
When you receive your QR code poster you should:
- print the poster
- display the poster somewhere visitors can see it and scan it when they arrive, for example next to the entrance
- ask visitors to scan the QR code when they arrive, using their NHS COVID-19 app
- display as many posters as you need to, to avoid queues forming
If you do not have a printer, you can show the QR code on a display screen, such as a TV or tablet. Make sure it’s within reach so visitors can scan it with their mobile phones.
