Phase 4 business support grants

Barnsley Council, supported by Sheffield City Region, have provided an updated to the new discretionary grants available to support businesses during the January 2021 lockdown period.
All business support grants are to support businesses with ongoing business costs, such as property, rather than to cover for lost income.
Local Restriction Support Grant Top up
During this period, closed businesses in Hospitality (pubs restaurants and cafes that have been closed throughout), Accommodation (B&B’s excluding AirBNB) and Entertainment (Theatres, cinemas) with a rateable value will have already received a Local Restriction Support grant of between £4000 and £9000 on 6/1/2021
From Wednesday 20 January, these businesses will receive an automatic top-up grant:

Discretionary Grant 1 – Businesses forced to close that do not have a Business rates account
This specific grant allows for three payment options for businesses in this category. you may be eligible for one or all three grant options. See full details here.

The payment amount will depend on the rateable value or annual rent or annual mortgage of the occupied property. Payment will be made on a discretionary basis taking into account individual set ups.
Payments will be made as follows:
Option 1

These are a one off discretionary payment for the January 2021 Lockdown.
Automatic payments will be made for those who have already received support through this grant.
Discretionary Grant 2 – Hardship scheme for open businesses
These payments, based on rateable value, will be made automatically if previously been in receipt of support See more about this grant here.

Discretionary grant 3 – Continuation of supply chain scheme
These payments, based on rateable value, will be made automatically if previously been in receipt of support. See more about this grant here.

Update to Discretionary grant 2 – For businesses that remain open.
• Home-based businesses and those very low property costs – £1,000 grant
• Driving instructors – £1,000 grant
To be eligible, you must evidence fixed business costs (May include license fees) and be able to demonstrate financial hardship.
Purchasing stock does not apply.
