Restart Grant

The Restart Grant Scheme supports businesses in reopening safety as coronavirus (COVID-19) restrictions are lifted.  This is for businesses with a business rates account only.

Businesses that do not have a business rates account but have fixed property costs can apply for a Discretionary Restart Grant, more details are below.

Strand One – Non-essential retail

Strand Two – Hospitality, Leisure, Accommodation, Personal Care and Gym Businesses.

We’ve now made all the automatic payments that we are able to do so and all businesses that have been made an automatic payment should receive the grant by Wednesday 21st April 2021.  If you have not received a payment by this date you will need to make a new application.

In order to ensure that money was distributed quickly to Barnsley businesses, we may have paid some businesses via Strand One as non-essential retail rather than one of the other Strand Two categories based on the property description we hold of your premises. If you do not think that your grant award is correct, please contact us at with your Business Rates account number, property address and provide evidence of the nature of your business.
